Fernlodge Kennels was established in 1988 with the purchase of our first bitch “Nickie” (who passed away when she was just 3 wks short of turning 18 years of age). Our Tenterfields are very much part of our family. Fernlodge Kennels were instrumental in the development of the registry and final acknowledgement of the breed by the ANKC. We have been involved with the Tenterfield Terrier Club of SA (Jan holding life membership) and the Tenterfield Terrier Club of Australia (now known as the National Tenterfield Terrier Council) since their conception. I held the position of Secretary / Treasurer for some 11 years with the TTCSA and was the Secretary / Treasurer of the TTCA from its inauguration, through to December 2002, when I chose to step down. During this time, many hours were spent keeping the Breed Registry to ensure recognition of the Tenterfield Terrier with the ANKC, so this delightful breed would never be lost. This recognition was finally approved in October 2001 with the first entry into the official show-ring in June 2002. Our base principle is to breed for quality and to ensure the soundness of the breed continues, hence puppies are not produced in large numbers. We hope you enjoy our website and we look forward to hearing from you.
